Action in UMD vs Minnesota game
After a long holiday break, most of the WCCHA club teams were back in action and looking to start preparations for the conference tournament in February. The final regular season standings, which will dictate the seeding positions for the conference tournament, will be determined after the last 2 scheduled games this week. The top two seeds, Waldorf and St. Thomas have clinched their tournament positions.
CONFERENCE RESULTS:
Friday, January 24:
- Waldorf 3 – Northern Michigan 0
- Minnesota-Duluth 5, Minnesota 2
- UW-Eau Claire 3, St. Cloud 2
Saturday, January 25:
- Waldorf 3 – Northern Michigan 2
- Minnesota-Duluth 6, Minnesota 4
- UW-Eau Claire 4, St. Cloud 3
Sunday, January 26:
- Minnesota 3, Northern Michigan 1
UW-Eau Claire and Wisconsin meet later this week to complete the WCCHA league schedule of games.
RANKINGS UPDATE:
In the most recent rankings thru Friday, December 20, 2013, four WCCHA teams received votes from the ACHA ranking committee. Leading the way is Northern Michigan at #12, Waldorf at #13, St. Cloud at #14, and St. Cloud State at #15. While not earning a position in the top 15, Minnesota-Duluth also received votes this ranking period.
