Mavericks fall two spots, Gopher drop out, Beavers earn votes
To no one’s surprise, Bemidji State’s North Star College Cup win over Minnesota State ended the Mavericks’ two-week stint atop the U.S. College Hockey online rankings in its the latest poll released today. Wins over Minnesota-Duluth and MSU earned the Beavers top 20 consideration with three votes this week.
The Mavericks (19- 5-1) dropped two spots to third behind newly-named No. 1 North Dakota (18- 5-2) and Boston University (15- 4-4). MSU did receive 11 first-place votes to BU’s five while UND amassed a total of 34.
Another North Start College Cup victim was Minnesota (11-9-2) which fell out of the top 20 for the first time since April 11, 2011 after losing to the Mavericks and Minnesota Duluth in St. Paul. The Bulldogs (14-9-2), meanwhile, maintained their position in the seventh spot this week.
