1932: Former NHL left winger Dean Prentice born in Schumacher, Ont. Prentice played in the NHL 1952-53 through 1973-74 with the New York Rangers, Boston, Detroit, Pittsburgh and the Minnesota North Stars.
1947: Former NHL goalie Gary Edwards born in Toronto, Ont. Edwards played in the NHL 1968-69 through 1981-82 with St. Louis, Los Angeles, Cleveland, the Minnesota North Stars, Edmonton and Pittsburgh.
1967: The expansion Minnesota North Stars closed out their first NHL preason with a 5-2 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins, at a game played in Kingston, Ontario. The North Stars finished their first exhibition season with a record of 7-5-1.
1978: Toronto Maple Leafs acquired Walt McKechnie from the Minnesota North Stars in exchange for a 3rd Round Choice in the 1980 Entry Draft (Randy Velischek).
1978: The Minnesota North Stars faced off against their NHL counterparts in fall exhibition games vs the WHA in games played from 72-78. The North Stars-5 vs. Winnipeg jets-5 was played on this date.
1981: Buffalo Sabres acquired Yvon Lambert from Montreal and lost Rob McClanahan to Hartford in the NHL Waiver Draft.
1983: Winnipeg’s Scott Arniel scored his first career hat trick in a 6-6 tie against the visiting Red Wings. Reed Larson picked up three assists for Detroit.
1987: Minnesota North Stars claimed Al Tuer from Edmonton and Richard Zemlak from Quebec in the NHL’s annual Waiver Draft.
1989: Minnesota North Stars rookie Mike Modano scored his first career goal and first career assist in his first NHL game, a 6-5 win over the visiting New York Islanders.
1989: Mike Ramsey picked up his 200th career NHL assist as the Sabres won 4-3 over the Quebec Nordiques, at the Aud.
1989: Minnesota’s Brian Bellows had two goals and two assists as the North Stars won 6-5 over the visiting New York Islanders.
1991: Opening night of the Minnesota North Stars 25th Anniversary Season celebrated in the NHL’s 75th Anniversary season as well.
1995: Ottawa Senators claimed Tom Chorske on waivers from New Jersey.
2005: Marc Chouinard scored his first career hat trick to lead the Minnesota Wild to a 6-3 win against the visiting Calgary Flames.
2005: Minneapolis, MN native Zach Parise played in his 1st NHL game with the New Jersey Devils where he tallied his first point.
2006: Todd White scored at 1:03 into overtime to lead the Wild to a 3-2 win over the visiting Colorado Avalanche.
2007: Dallas rookie defenseman Matt Niskanen assisted on the first two Stars’ goals to lead the team to a 4-1 win over the visiting Boston Bruins.
2011: New Jersey Devils named Zach Parise as their new team captain, the 9th in team history.
