1965: Former defenseman J.J. Daigneault born in Montreal, Que. Daigneault played in the NHL 1984-85 through 2000-01 with Vancouver, Philadelphia, Montreal, St. Louis, Pittsburgh, Anaheim, the N.Y. Islanders, Nashville, Phoenix & the Minnesota Wild.
1969: NHL goaltender Dwayne Roloson born in Simcoe, Ont. Roloson has played in the NHL since 1996-97 with Calgary, Buffalo, the Minnesota Wild, Edmonton, the New York Islanders, and Tampa Bay.
1972: Hartford Whalers played their first WHA game, winning 4-3 over the visiting Philadelphia Blazers before 14,442 spectators at the Boston Garden. Tommy Williams scored the first Whalers’ goal.
1974: Goaltender Cesare Maniago recorded his 26th career shutout as the Minnesota North Stars won 6-0 against Washington, at the Met Center. Bill Goldsworthy scored two goals and an assist.
1975: Former NHL center Randy Robitaille born in Ottawa, Ont. Robitaille played in the NHL 1998-99 through 2007-08 with Boston, Nashville, Los Angeles, Pittsburgh, New York Islanders, Atlanta, the Minnesota Wild, Philadelphia, New York Islanders and Ottawa.
1979: Minnesota North Stars signed Rob Flockhart as free agent.
1983: Steve Payne scored two goals and two assists as the Minnesota North Stars recorded the 450th win in franchise history, 7-5 over the visiting Calgary Flames. Lanny McDonald had a goal and three assists for Calgary.
1989: Minnesota’s Jon Casey recorded his second career shutout to lead the North Stars to a 3-0 win over St. Louis.
1991: Dave Christian scored twice and had an assist in the second period to lead the Blues to a 6-3 win over the San Jose Sharks, in St. Louis.
1991: Minnesota North Stars rookie Derian Hatcher scored his first career NHL goal in a 3-2 win over the visiting Detroit Red Wings.
2000: In a pre-game ceremony the Minnesota Wild retired jersey #1 in honor of Wild Fans.
The fans helped to sell out every game through their first 3.5 seasons in the ‘Team of 18,000’.
2001: Minnesota set a team record with three power play goals in the first period, and finished with four PPG’s in the game, a 6-4 victory against the visiting Chicago Blackhawks. Filip Kuba tied a team record for defensemen with 3 points (a goal and 2 assists)
2003: Trent Klatt scored twice in 33 seconds of the second period to lead the Kings to a 4-2 win against the Blackhawks at Chicago.
2005: Matt Foy scored the first two goals of his NHL career, Dwayne Roloson recorded his 17th career shutout, and Pierre-Marc Bouchard scored on a penalty shot as the Wild won 6-0 against the visiting Vancouver Canucks.
2005: Kurt Sauer scored his first goal as a member of the Colorado Avalanche in a 5-4 loss against the visiting Nashville Predators.
2006: Minnesota’s Kim Johnsson tied a team record for defenseman with two goals, and Mikko Koivu scored the only shootout goal in a 3-2 win over the visiting Capitals. The victory improved the Wild’s record to 4-0-0, the best start in team history.
2011: Dallas Stars acquired winger Eric Nystrom from the Minnesota Wild in exchange for future considerations.
