1960: Former U.S. Olympic goalie Jack McCartan made his first appearance in goal for the NY Rangers and recorded his only career NHL shutout to lead New York to a 2-0 win over Chicago at Madison Square Garden.
1967: Minnesota North Stars traded defenseman Jean-Guy Talbot to the Detroit Red Wings in exchange for defenseman Bob McCord.
1968: Danny O’Shea had three assists to lead the North Stars to a 4-1 win over the Kings in Minnesota.
1973: Former NHL right winger Kirk Nielsen born in Grand Rapids, MN. Nielsen played in the NHL 1997-98 with Boston.
1986: Minnesota goalie Don Beaupre recorded his 100th NHL career victory as the North Stars won 8-5, at Chicago. Minnesota’s Dino Ciccarelli led the scoring with two goals and two assists.
1992: The largest crowd ever to see a hockey game in Minnesota (19,344 fans) showed up to see the home town North Stars lose 5-3 to the visiting Detroit Red Wings.
1998: Philadelphia Flyers traded right wing Trent Klatt to the Vancouver Canucks for a 2000 sixth-round draft pick.
1999: Anaheim’s Matt Cullen scored a goal and added four assists in the Mighty Ducks 7-1 win at Washington.
2005: Minnesota rookie Derek Boogaard scored his first career NHL goal (the game winner) and picked up 9 penalty minutes, and the Wild scored a team-record five goals in the third period to beat the visiting San Jose Sharks 6-1.
2010: Brent Burns became the first defenseman to get 100 career assists as a member of the Minnesota Wild; he reached the milestone in a 6-2 win vs Vancouver.
