1946: Frank Brimsek became just the second goaltender to record 30 shutouts as a member of the Bruins, and Boston became the third team in NHL history to win 200 road games when they won 4-0 against the Rangers at New York.
1976: Dean Talafous scored two goals and an assist and Tim Young had a goal and two assists to lead the Minnesota North Stars to a 3-2 win over the Penguins, at the Met Center.
1977: Former NHL left winger Brad Defauw born in Edina, MN. Defauw played in the NHL 2002-03 with Carolina.
1979: In a unique game, only one puck was used for the entire night as the Minnesota North Stars played to a 6-6 tie against the Kings in Los Angeles. Minnesota’s Al MacAdam led the scoring with four assists.
1981: The North Stars set a then club record for most goals in a game with a 15-2 win over the Winnipeg Jets.
1988: Dino Ciccarelli scored two goals and added an assist as the Minnesota North Stars tied 5-5 against the Blues, at St. Louis.
1990: Minnesota defenseman Mark Tinordi picked up 30 penalty minutes and teammate Shane Churla added 27 PIM for the North Stars in a 3-2 overtime loss vs Hartford.
2000: Rookie Marian Gaborik and Stacy Roest scored 39 seconds apart early in the third period to lead the Minnesota Wild to a 5-2 win at Chicago.
2003: Trent Klatt scored twice to lead the Kings to a 3-2 win over the Capitals at Washington.
2005: Chicago Blackhawks extended the Blues’ franchise-record losing streak to 10 games with a 4-2 win at St. Louis. Mark Cullen scored his first career goal in his first NHL game, after being recalled from Norfolk.
2009: Niklas Backstrom picked up his 100th career NHL victory & Mikko Koivu became the fifth player to score 200 points as a member of the Minnesota Wild; he reached the milestone with a goal and two assists in the second period of a 5-2 win over the Leafs (the Wild’s first ever victory in Toronto).
