1955: Former NHL center Mike Wong born in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Wong played in the NHL 1975-76 with Detroit.
1967: Duluthian, Tom Williams scored twice and added two assists to lead the Bruins to a 5-4 win against the Canadiens, at Montreal.
1970: Bill Goldsworthy scored two goals and an assist and J.P. Parise added a goal and two assists to lead the Minnesota North Stars to a 5-2 win over St. Louis at the Met Center.
1970: Former NHL defenseman Tom Pederson born in Bloomington, Minnesota. Pederson played in the NHL 1992-93 through 1996-97 with San Jose and Toronto.
1976: Minnesota’s Dennis Hextall scored a goal and three assists as the North Stars lost 6-5 to the Maple Leafs at the Met Center.
1977: The ‘New’ Minnesota Fighting Saints played their last game in team history at the Civic Center, a 9-5 win over the visiting Indianapolis Racers.
1978: Paul Holmgren scored a goal and added two assists to lead the Flyers to a 4-1 win over the Rangers at the Spectrum.
1978: Defenseman Reed Larson scored a goal and added two assists to lead the Red Wings to a 6-2 win against the Sabres at the Olympia.
1980: New York Rangers tied a team record for fastest 2 goals when Doug Sulliman and Eddie Johnstone scored in a span of :05 in the first period of a 6-6 tie vs Colorado. Warren Miller also scored to give the Rangers 3 goals in a team-record span of :28.
2004: Dwayne Roloson made 44 saves and Sergei Zholtok became the fifth player to score 100 points as a member of the Minnesota Wild; he reached the milestone with an assist in a 2-2 tie against visiting Los Angeles.
2007: Despite being outshot 41-27 by the Blackhawks, Minnesota’s Manny Fernandez made 38 saves, and Pavol Demitra scored the only shootout goal as the Wild won 4-3 at Chicago.
2009: Columbus acquired Jason Williams from the Atlanta Thrashers in exchange for Sturgeon Lake, MN native Clay Wilson and a sixth round pick in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.
2010: Chris Mason recorded his first shutout of the season and he 19th of his NHL career as the St. Louis Blues beat the visiting Minnesota Wild 1-0. T.J. Oshie scored the only goal of the game 26 seconds into overtime.
