1938: Mike Karakas was in net as the Chicago Black Hawks recorded their first shutout in Toronto, a 2-0 win over the Maple Leafs; it came in the 13th year of games between the teams. Chicago scored twice in the final minute of the game to win.
1967: Former NHL defenseman Lance Pitlick born in Minneapolis, MN. Pitlick played in the NHL 1994-95 through 2001-02 with Ottawa and Florida.
1983: Chicago Black Hawks scored the fastest two goals from the start of a period in NHL history. Ken Yaremchuk scored at :12 and Darryl Sutter followed at :21 of the second period, in a 10-5 loss to the North Stars at Minnesota.
1983: Minnesota’s Dino Ciccarelli scored his 6th career hat trick and two assists and Tom McCarthy had a goal and three assists in the North Stars’ 10-5 win against the visiting Chicago Black Hawks.
1984: Keith Acton scored a goal and added two assists to lead the North Stars to a 5-3 win over Toronto in Minnesota.
1986: Buffalo’s Phil Housley picked up his 200th career NHL assist as the Sabres won 8-3 over the visiting Boston Bruins.
1987: Aaron Broten picked up three assists as the Devils won 5-3 over the Blues, in New Jersey.
1992: Larry DePalma and Dave Snuggerud combined to set a Sharks team record by scoring 2 goals in a span of :07 & Pat Falloon had a goal and two assists in less than three minutes (in the third period) to rally the Sharks to a 7-5 win over the visiting Sabres.
1992: Goaltender Jon Casey recorded his 10th career shutout, and Dave Gagner scored twice to lead the Minnesota North Stars to a 3-0 win over the NY Islanders at the Met Center.
2000: Antti Laaksonen scored the winning goal at 3:11 of overtime and Wes Walz scored twice as the Minnesota Wild beat the Flames 3-2 at Calgary for their first road victory in team history. It was also Jacques Lemaire’s 250th career NHL victory.
2003: Scott Stevens had two assists to become just the 10th defenseman in NHL history to score 900 points, and Jamie Langenbrunner scored with 42.7 seconds remaining in overtime to give the Devils a 3-2 win cover the visiting San Jose Sharks.
2005: Brian Rolston scored his second career hat trick (and his first since November 1996) as the Wild won 3-1 over the Sharks at San Jose.
2008: Dallas Stars announced the signing of free agent Mark Parrish.
