1952: Former NHL center Doug Palazzari born in Eveleth, MN. Palazzari played in the NHL 1974-75 through 1978-79 with St. Louis.
1963: Tom Williams scored two goals and added an assist to lead the Bruins to a 4-1 win over the Red Wings, in Boston.
1970: Former NHL defenseman Doug Zmolek born in Rochester, MN. Zmolek played in the NHL 1992-93 through 1999-00 with San Jose, Dallas, Los Angeles and Chicago.
1971: Minnesota North Stars became the third post-1967 expansion team to win 100 games, when they picked up a 2-1 victory over the visiting Toronto Maple Leafs.
1973: Minnesota (who had started the season 0-5-6) trailed Chicago 3-0 in their 12th game of the season, but Dennis Hextall scored a goal and two assists to lead the North Stars to a 5-4 win over the visiting Black Hawks.
1986: Joel Otto scored his first career hat trick as the Flames extended their home undefeated streak against Los Angeles to 8 straight games (7-0-1) with a 4-2 win over the Kings.
1987: Minnesota’s Neal Broten became the third player in team history to score 500 points in a North Stars’ uniform; the milestone came in a 2-2 tie at Detroit.
1990: Minnesota’s Jon Casey recorded his 6th career shutout, and Neal Broten picked up two assists as the North Stars won 2-0 against the Nordiques, in Quebec City.
1993: Joel Otto scored his second career hat trick to lead the Flames to a 6-3 win over the Whalers at Hartford.
2007: Marian Gaborik had two goals and an assist to lead the Wild to a 4-1 win over the visiting Calgary Flames.
2011: Matt Cullen scored two goals and an assist and took 9 shots to lead the Wild to a 5-1 win over the visiting Vancouver Canucks. Minnesota set a team record for most shots in a home game, with 45 while holding Vancouver to 25.
