1944: Former NHL goalie Gary Smith born in Ottawa, Ont. Smith played in the NHL 1965-66 through 1979-80 with Toronto, Oakland, Chicago, Vancouver, Washington, the Minnesota North Stars and Winnipeg.
1956: The U.S. Olympic team captures the silver medal in the Olympic Games with 11 Minnesota natives on the team.
1973: J.P. Parise scored a goal and added three assists to lead the Minnesota North Stars to a 4-3 win over Pittsburgh at the Met Center.
1979: Al MacAdam scored a goal and added two assists to lead the Minnesota North Stars to a 6-4 win against the Maple Leafs at the Met Center. Borje Salming had three assists for Toronto.
1987: Kings signed veteran defenseman Dave Langevin as a free agent, following his release by the Minnesota North Stars.
1992: Tom Chorske scored twice in the third period to lead the Devils to a 3-1 win over the Flyers, in New Jersey.
1997: Tom Chorske scored twice in the second period to lead the Senators to a 4-3 win at Boston.
2006: Jacques Lemaire became the seventh coach in NHL history to win 150 games with two different teams (New Jersey and Minnesota) when the Wild had their milestone 150th win, 6-4 over the Coyotes in Phoenix. Wes Walz had 2 goals and 2 assists.
2008: Patrik Elias & David Clarkson scored less than two minutes apart in the third to tie the game, and Zach Parise scored the winning goal 37 seconds into overtime in the Devils 4-3 win over the visiting Pittsburgh Penguins. Elias & Parise each had 2 assists.
2009: Niklas Backstrom set a Minnesota franchise record with his 6th shutout of the season (the 15th of his career) as the Wild beat the visiting Ducks 3-0 for their first-ever home shutout over Anaheim.
2010: Martin Havlat scored twice as the Minnesota Wild beat Edmonton for the 12th straight time at home, with a 4-2 win over the Oilers. Rookie goalie Anton Khudobin, made his NHL debut and got the win in relief of Josh Harding.
2013: Minnesota Wild Left Winger Zach Parise scored his 200th NHL goal vs. the Phoenix Coyotes.
