1954: Former NHL center Doug Risebrough born in Guelph, Ont. Risebrough played in the NHL 1974-75 through 1986-87 with Montreal and Calgary, and later coached the Flames before becoming the GM of Calgary and the Minnesota Wild.
1957: Former NHL center Joe Contini born in Galt, Ont. Contini played in the NHL 1977-78 through 1980-81 with the Colorado Rockies and the Minnesota North Stars.
1970: Minnesota’s Ray Cullen scored his second career hat trick as the North Stars lost 6-5 to the Bruins, at Boston.
1972: Jude Drouin had three assists to lead the Minnesota North Stars to a 4-2 win against New York at the Met Center.
1974: Bill Goldsworthy and Dennis Hextall represent the North Stars in the 1974 NHL All-Star game played in Chicago.
1978: Minnesota goaltender Paul Harrison recorded the first shutout of his rookie season in the North Stars’ 4-0 win over the Capitals at Washington.
1980: Tom McCarthy scored a goal and added an assist to lead the Minnesota North Stars to a 2-2 tie against the Islanders at New York.
1981: Former NHL right winger Kyle Wanvig born in Calgary, Alta. Wanvig played in the NHL 2002-03 through 2007-08 with the Minnesota Wild and Tampa Bay.
1982: Rob McClanahan was acquired by the New York Rangers, from Hartford in exchange for future considerations.
1983: Steve Payne and Curt Giles each had two assists as the North Stars tied 2-2 with the Philadelphia Flyers in Minnesota.
1988: Dave Christian scored twice and added an assist as the Capitals won 4-3 over the visiting Montreal Canadiens.
1989: NHL center Jim O’Brien born in Maplewood, MN. O’Brien has played in the NHL since 2010-11.
1991: Buffalo Sabres named Mike Ramsey as their new team captain.
1995: Dallas Stars named Neal Broten as their new team captain.
2009: Minnesota Wild acquired forward Dan Fritsche from the New York Rangers in exchange for defenseman Erik Reitz.
2009: Jamie Langenbrunner scored two goals for the second straight game, with the winner coming 1:11 into overtime, and also had an assist to lead the Devils to a 4-3 win at Boston.
2010: Travis Zajac picked up three assists in regulation then scored the game winner at 4:14 of overtime to lead the Devils to a 5-4 win over the visiting Toronto Maple Leafs. Zach Parise added two goals and two assists.
