1938: Chicago goalie Mike Karakas recorded his 17th career shutout and Johnny Gottselig scored the winning goal with 1:23 minutes remaining in the game as thee Black Hawks won 1-0 over the Rangers at New York.
1948: Frank Brimsek became the first goaltender to record 35 shutouts as a member of the Bruins and Jimmy Peters scored a goal and added an assist as Boston won 2-0 at Montreal.
1951: Former North Stars left winger Rod Norrish born in Saskatoon, Sask. Norrish played in the NHL 1973-74 through 1974-75.
1971: Minnesota’s Bill Goldsworthy set a North Stars’ record for the fastest two goals, scoring twice in seven seconds, and Jude Drouin had three assists in the North Stars’ 3-1 win at Los Angeles.
1974: Dennis Hextall scored a goal and added three assists to lead the Minnesota North Stars to a 6-4 win over Washington at the Met Center.
1976: Minnesota rookie Roland Eriksson set a franchise record with three power play goals in the second period (his first career NHL hat trick) to lead the North Stars to a 6-1 win over the visiting Washington Capitals.
1981: Minnesota’s Dino Ciccarelli scored three goals (for his third career hat trick) to lead the North Stars to a 5-5 tie with the Jets, at Winnipeg.
1982: Dave Christian scored a goal and added two assists to lead the Winnipeg Jets to a 6-3 win at Toronto.
1988: Buffalo’s Phil Housley scored two goals and added two assists as the Sabres won 7-3 against the visiting Philadelphia Flyers.
1992: Corey Millen scored two goals and an assist to lead the Kings to a 5-3 win against the Red Wings, at Detroit.
1992: Minnesota’s Mike Modano scored his 100th career NHL goal as the North Stars tied the NY Rangers 4-4 at the Met Center.
2001: Wild were outshot 14-4 in the third period and 27-18 in the game, but Sergei Zholtok and Wes Walz scored in the final 10 minutes of regulation for a 2-1 win over the visiting Vancouver Canucks.
2002: Matt Cullen became just the fourth player in team history to play 400 games with the Mighty Ducks; the milestone came in a 2-2 tie against Phoenix.
2009: Chuck Kobasew scored his second career hat trick as the Wild beat the visiting Colorado Avalanche 5-3.
