1968: Former NHL defenseman Lubomir Sekeras born in Trencin, Czech. Sekeras played in the NHL 2000-01 through 2003-04 with the Minnesota Wild and Dallas.
1971: Tom Reid picked up three assists to lead the Minnesota North Stars to a 4-3 win over Pittsburgh at the Met Center.
1975: Minnesota North Stars ended their team-record 8 game road losing streak with a 5-1 win over the Blues, at St. Louis.
1978: Glen Sonmor took over as the Minnesota North Stars’ Head Coach, replacing Harry Howell.
1979: Grant Mulvey scored two goals and an assist, and Terry Ruskowski had a goal and two assists to lead the Black Hawks to a 3-3 tie against the North Stars, in Chicago. Glen Sharpley scored a goal and two assists for Minnesota.
1981: Bobby Smith and Steve Payne each scored a goal and had two assists to lead the Minnesota North Stars to a 6-4 win over the Jets at Winnipeg.
1981: North Stars’ Bobby Smith scored his 100th career NHL goal and added two assists as Minnesota won 6-4 against the Jets, at Winnipeg.
1982: Tom McCarthy had two assists to lead the North Stars to a 2-1 win over Buffalo in Minnesota.
1986: Buffalo Sabres acquired Tom Kurvers from Montreal in exchange for a second round draft choice in 1988.
1987: NHL right wing Cal Clutterbuck born in Welland, Ont. Clutterbuck has played in the NHL since 2007-08 with the Minnesota Wild and N.Y. Islanders.
1989: Minnesota’s Jon Casey got his 4th career shutout and Mike Gartner took 9 shots in the game as the North Stars had a 3-0 win over St. Louis.
1990: Phil Housley picked up three assists in the third period to lead the Winnipeg Jets to a 4-3 win over the visiting St. Louis Blues.
1992: Russ Courtnall scored a goal and added two assists as the Minnesota North Stars began a team-record 7 game road winning streak, with a 5-4 win over the Capitals, at Washington.
1997: Ottawa Senators traded Sean Hill to Carolina, in exchange for Chris Murray.
1999: The Minnesota Wild unveils it’s new logo and team sweater at the John Rose Oval in Roseville.
2000: Minnesota rookies Lubomir Sekeras and Maxim Sushinsky each scored twice and Brad Bombadir set a team record for defensemen with 3 assists as the Wild set a team road record with 4 power play goals in a 6-1 victory at Boston.
2005: Phoenix traded David Tanabe to Boston for Dave Scatchard.
2008: Minnesota defenseman Marek Zidlicky scored the deciding goal in a shootout for the second straight game to lead the Wild to a 2-1 shootout win at Pittsburgh; he became just the 2nd defenseman to get the shootout winner two games in a row.
2009: Florida Panthers outscored the Sabres 4-1 in the third period for a 6-2 win at Buffalo. Defenseman Keith Ballard led the Panthers with three assists.
